Official rental website address : http://www.crescentholidayrentals.com/properties/CP77.htm
The address of the apartment is:
Beyoglu Caddessi
Can2 Sitesi
20/1 Turgutreis
It is situated in the market (bazaar) street in Turgutreis, and next to the local convenience store Tansas. The apartment is on a small complex consisting of 8 apartments in 2 blocks, and one 3-bed villa. Some owners are Turkish, some Foreign. They are all very helpful, and more than happy to assist in any way they can, so dont be shy to ask!
The shops, bars and beach are all down the road; turn right out of the front gate.
Our good friends Akay and Tugba own a bar called “Target Bar” in Turgutreis centre. Again, if you need to know anything, pop into their bar, sit down for a drink and ask them for advice. They can recommend places to go and see, restaurants and bars and provide some translation if you should need it.
• TV+Satellite:
Make sure the TV is plugged into the multi-plug behind the cabinet, and press “1” on the TV remote to switch the TV on. Press “list” on the Satellite remote to scroll through the channels. The most popular channels have been pre-programmed 1-20.
• DVD
To watch a DVD, switch the Satellite off on the remote, and press the “source” button on the TV remote, which has a little picture of a TV and arrow, to change the source to DVD. Then use the DVD remote to play DVD. Make sure to replace any DVD’s safely to their sleeves/cases to ensure they’re scratch-free for the guests after you.
• CD Player
Ensure the CD player is plugged into the multi-plug behind the cabinet, and use remote as usual.
Note the CD player cover opens and closes by using the open/close button. DON’T force it close by hand! Please replace any CD’s safely to their sleeves/cases to ensure they’re scratch-free for the guests after you.
• Aircon
Use the remote to control the Air conditioner only. You need to remove the remote from the holder on the wall, and point it at the front of the AC unit. You only need to use 3 buttons, please don’t fiddle with the other buttons, as you will change the settings on the unit, and unless you can read the Turkish Manual, you might be without AC for the duration of your stay!
1)on/off button
2) Temperature up
3) and down button.
The AC is powerful enough to cool the entire flat. Obviously the rooms will be slightly less cooler, but if you leave the doors open when the AC is running, the cold air will make its way into the rooms. I find if you leave the fans running in the bedrooms too, this helps the circulation of cold air.
NB: To operate the A/C is expensive. Please close all the doors and windows when the A/C is being used, and don’t leave it running when you’re not at home. I found the fans in the room make it cool enough to sleep during the night without the A/C running – besides; it’s not very healthy to breath in air-conditioned air all the time! So use it sparingly and wisely. Keeping the bills low allow us to keep the rent low for everyone – you never know, you might want to return next year! ?
• Shower
The shower is on my list of things to replace in the apartment, as it has a flimsy door and a small leak at the bottom of the door. It works fine though, but in the mean time, please pull on the doors gently, the wheels at the bottom and top are a bit flimsy! The drain at the bottom is a bit slow in draining the water, so please keep an eye on the water level so it doesn’t overspill. Dry the tiled floor after you shower, to stop mould growing in the heat. A slippery floor is dangerous!
• Doors
Please lock all doors every time you leave the apartment. Thieves have been known to wander around in Turgutreis – don’t give them a reason to steal! Don’t forget to lock the front door with both keys when you leave at the end of your stay.
• Furniture
We opted to buy good quality furniture which although cost a bit more, offers a more pleasant stay, and used respectfully, should last longer.
1) Please use the couch cover at all times to protect the orange couch.
2) Use the table cloth at all times to protect the table-surface from glass stains, knocks and scratches.
Please treat the furniture the same way you’d want your own furniture to be treated…….
• Solar heating
The hot water comes from the solar panel heating on the roof. It takes a while for the water to make its way down, but when it does, you’ll know about it. It’s BOILING hot, so be careful!
• Cold water
The cold water is supplied from the underground tank which is topped up every week. As you might know, the tap water is not for drinking in Turkey. There are 2 large water bottles with a “handpump” in the kitchen.
Should they run out, please let Ali Can know – he will arrange for a fresh bottle to be delivered, or if you know someone who speaks Turkish, ask them to ring the number on the label on the bottle. The shop is in the main street opposite the apartment. You might want to fill up a large plastic bottle (or 5!) with water and keep it topped up in the fridge
Use this bottled water to fill the kettle and ice-cubes, don’t use tap water. Easy to forget because back home we’re used to filling from the tap. The last thing you want is to spend your holiday on the loo! Incidentally, when you’re having drinks at a restaurant or bar, be sure to ask whether the ice in your drink is made from bottled water. If in doubt, have beer instead! ?
• Lights
Switch off the lights during the day and when you’re out in the evenings. Don’t forget the outside light at the front door!
• Fans
2 standing fans can be moved around; I found that the fans in the bedroom provide enough cooling without the A/C on during night time. Also, having a fan running in the hallway when the AC is on, or in the bedrooms, assists in circulating the cold air.
• Linen
The beds are prepared with a clean set of linen before each visit. Please remove used linen before you leave at the end of your stay and leave on the floor in front of washing machine. This will ensure that only used linen is washed and not the clean, unused linen.
4 Towels are available for you to use, please leave these behind when you depart.
• Fridge
The fridge has to be switched ON upon your arrival, and switched off when you depart The switch is behind the fridge and can be accessed by moving the fridge forward. Remember to remove all your groceries from the fridge when you leave.
• Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is only for use by the tenants of the complex. If you decide to invite friends along to use the pool, be sure to mention it to the other tenants. All the tenants have to pay a monthly charge to maintain and fill the pool, so it’s only fair to let them know when you bring friends along to use the pool…….
NB: DO NOT jump into the pool.
This causes the water to overspill, the pool is then topped up with the storage water in the underground tank, and before you know it – the complex will be without water.
This happened during our stay in June with kids jumping in and out, and we ended without cold water for 3 days – not fun ?
• Deck chairs
The 2xdeck chairs belong to us, so please leave them on the small porch, or on the grass in front of the porch when not in use during your stay, and put them away into the house at the end of your visit.
Likewise, with the table and 4 chairs on the porch and the portable BBQ. They need to be left inside the house when you depart.
